If you’ve been on the internet at any point in the past 24 hours, you’ve probably heard of allegations against a BBC presenter. If not, here’s a sum up: Allegations have been raised against a BBC presenter, suggesting that they paid £35k for explicit images of a minor.
At this moment in time, it’s currently unknown which presenter is under investigation, but several comments have been made.
The victim in this situation, who was 17 at the beginning of the set-up, commented that nothing unlawful or inappropriate ever happened. However, all of this came to light when the mother of the young person reported the story to the Sun.
At this moment in time, the lawyer of the young person has defended the presenter against the allegations.
However, I don’t know about anyone else, but this feels like we’re falling into a cycle. The BBC has a history of crooked presenters and stars. This organisation has been known for discovering and hiding abuse instead of holding people accountable for their actions.
While the police investigate, we will likely be kept in the loop. Although, with the Met Police’s history of hiding famous or rich abusers… I won’t hold my breath.
