My Recovery Board

Trying to locate an AA Chip board in the UK is difficult, but I successfully found one creator in the UK creating boards designed to hold a year’s worth of chips (24 hours through to 1 Year).

But, I specifically wanted a custom-made board that would hold both my sobriety and recovery chips. And I wanted to design it myself.
So, I designed it, asked, and he was able to help.

It arrived yesterday, I put my coins in, and it became very real quickly. I’m currently two months clean from Bulimia and Self Harm and fifteen months sober from Alcohol and Codeine.

Seeing the coins in the board and how far I’ve come over the past eighteen months was a big moment. Before the visual, it felt like I’d done nothing and hadn’t earned my coins.

Top Quote from Doctor Who: “Sometimes, the only choices you have are bad ones, but you still have to choose.”
The bottom quote is from AA Chips (on the back of most coins): “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.”
Sobriety Date: 26/04/22
Recovery Date: 23/05/23

But now I know I’ve done something; it feels better and it looks fantastic. I’ve currently got my two-month coin for my recovery attached to my phone. My one-year coin for my sobriety is on display as it’s enamel (currently waiting for a bronze one to arrive).
I’m just so happy. So, this is your note, if you’re in AA or collect AA chips for a specific addiction – get yourself a board or display. Seeing them, seeing the achievement, is incredibly important and influential. Celebrate your achievements – no matter how small you think they are.

      Thank you 💜

  2. Congratulations for being into what has presence for you. I vividly recall. It doesn’t matter how long ago, though definitely wouldn’t want what was happening in the past. Respect for giving yourself sobriety and recovery.
