Netflix Censors Queer Comedians

Throwback to June 2022

Just last year, Netflix stated that they don’t support censoring comedians from making Transphobic jokes – allowing Dave Chappelle and Ricky Gervais platforms after thousands of people asked for their transphobic sets to be removed from the streaming service.

Fast forward to June 2022 and they’ve done the exact thing they swore not to do – censor comedians.

This time, they decided to censor Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration.

The comedians featured made positive trans jokes, anti-transphobia jokes, and joked about known transphobes (specifically the two previously mentioned).

Sadly, we only found out about these jokes thanks to the people who watched the show live and the comedians themselves, because Netflix cut the jokes – censoring LGBTQ comedians.

So, the question begs to be asked – do they stand against censorship or against trans people? Due to their recent actions, I’d say trans people. After all, they seem to have no issue censoring queer people.
